The Lion of Asia

I had no idea- apparently there is a beer at Wegman’s called Singha. How awesome is that? Yes- it’s not exactly spelled like my last name, but it’s close enough. To top things off, their motto is “The Lion of Asia.”

Paul = The Lion of Asia… hah, I love it. Random fact: my last name actually does mean lion. I swear.

Here’s the deal: Robby, Matt, Eben and I met up at Rio Grande for some happy hour action at 6PM last night. Next thing we know, it’s 10PM and we’re dying for food- so we head over to Wegman’s. We decide that we’re gonna grill out at Matt’s place so we head over to the butcher and ask for the biggest pieces of meat. Ever. Hah, between the 4 of us, we bought about $50 worth of steaks.

Yum. That is all.

We ended up cooking up some mean steaks with some grilled red peppers and onions. If you weren’t there- that sucks, the food was awesome. If you’re a vegetarian, sucks for you but it just means more steak for me. :)

What is Robby thinking about? And what’s up with the weird look on my face? Hah.

Technically… Singh means Lion in English. Pronounced, how most americans pronounce it (Seengh).. it actually means horn of a bull.

Make sure you help people pronouce it the right way.

    Kinda like Moti.

Moti = Fatty (female) or Pearl. pronounced the same way, and spelt the same way in English. But differently in Hindi. Even the pronounciation is different.

singh, in the sikh religion, is a name adopted to represent brotherhood, and to show strength and honor by relating themselves to a lion/sher. I dont approve of this company using the name singha, nor the slogan of the lion of asia, on a beer ad. our religion doesnt condemn drinking, therefore the company should not be puttin us out there like that. its bad enuf people already think punjabis drink better than the irish.
